India win Jaipur ODI by one run (SAF-IND: 0-1|3)

India beat South Africa by one run in the first cricket one-dayer to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. They survived a late batting onslaught from South Africa tail-enders Wayne Parnell and Dale Steyn to hold on for a tense last ball victory.
Contributions from the top order saw India post a total of 298 for nine, with Suresh Raina's 58 the highest. South Africa were 225 for 8 at the fall of Kallis' (89) wicket in the 43rd over, but then Parnell (49) and Steyn (35) put on 65 runs to take the visitors closer to victory.

South Africa needed 10 runs from 6 balls in the last over, with 2 wickets in hand. Parnell scored 1 run off the first ball from Praveen Kumar, and then Steyn was bowled off the second. With 9 to get from 4 balls, Langeveldt scored one, giving Parnell the strike. Parnell managed an inside edge to short fine leg to get another run off the 4th ball. Langeveldt then hit what appeared to be a boundary, which Sachin just managed to save. Replay wasn't conclusive, and so South Africa were left with 4 to get from the last ball. Praveen bowled the next one wide, giving South Africa an extra run, and extra ball. Needing three to win from the last ball, Parnell guided the ball to the third man, completed one, and then went for the second, as Sreesanth fired the throw wide of Dhoni. Dhoni manages to grab the ball and break the stumps in one motion, and it was all over for the Proteas. So close, and yet another loss to show in the scorecard. Jadeja who was recently suspended from the IPL 2010 got the Man of the Match award for his all-round show of 22 off 20 balls, and 2/29 off 10 overs.
India 298 for 9 (Raina 58, Sehwag 46, Karthik 44, Kallis 3-29) beat South Africa 297 (Kallis 89) by one run
